I am considering a processor upgrade for my flat panel imac 700 Mhz, namely Daystar's recently announced 1.35 Gigahertz 7457 upgrade. The cost is $550, which is the cost of a Mac Mini. So how would this upgrade for the 700 MhZ Imac compare with the performance of mac mini? the G5 Imac? Even if you don't actually test the upgraded machine, can you provide an estimate or way of estimating its likely performance boost and placement vis a vis the other machines? For example, would it likely run as fast as a 1.33 IBook or Powerbook?
Main applications: web browser, word processor, also I-Tunes and I-Photo.

Feature Analysis: The Mac mini is significantly more feature advanced than the iMac G4. Many of the items that were optional on the iMac G4, come stock on the Mac mini, and in many cases they are of a more advanced, next generation. (Have an opinion or information about the Mac mini? Denotes the faster score Use cautiously until difference confirmed by other testers
Analysis Performance: Because of the time difference between when these machines were tested we were not able to provide some scores for the G4 iMac. Nor did we test it with an upgrade card installed. The scores we provide for the G4 iMac are estimates based on data taken from the iMac in its stock state. However it is clear that in hard drive performance and graphics performance the Mac mini and G5 iMac would be significant faster than an upgraded G4 iMac.
