PowerBooks In The News
Apple polishes off titanium line - Apple kept the same dimensions for the new models, which come with 12-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch screens. The biggest change was to the 15-inch version, which, in addition to a new aluminum case, gains options such as AirPort Extreme wireless networking and the backlit keyboard that had been reserved for the 17-inch version
Apple bets on strong demand for powerful laptops - The 12-inch laptop sells for a base price of $1,599 or euros before tax, the 15-inch model for $1,999 or euros and the 17-inch version for $2,999 or euros. They have faster processors, more memory, better graphics cards and better connectivity to digital cameras, video recorders, displays and other peripherals than earlier models, Jobs said. They will have either a CD or a DVD burner inside
Apple revamps 15in PowerBook, adds Bluetooth - This also represents Apple's first reply to Intel's $300 million Centrino marketing campaign, and also a response to something that didn't exist three years ago: an abundance of relatively low-cost, well-designed and… whisper it… stylish Wintel notebook PCs. The Titanium's industrial design stood out from the pack when it was introduced, but it's much less differentiated now, when a feature-packed Vaio or a Fujitsu can be picked up for under $2000. So how has Apple responded?
